Asics backs sports performance conference
07/06/2011
Organised by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM), the conference, UKSEM, has once again partnered with running performance brand Asics. Asics’ ‘Sound Mind, Sound Body’ ethos, promoting both physical and mental wellbeing through science and innovation, is well aligned to a key ambition of UKSEM, which makes the brand an ideal title sponsor of the event, the organisers said.
Sports nutrition company Maxinutrition will continue its support as the event’s official nutrition partner.
UKSEM organiser Dr Andrew Franklyn-Miller said: “We are delighted to have the backing of these two high profile companies once again and are extremely excited about this year’s ASICS UKSEM. Taking place with just one month to go until our Olympic year, the conference will address key issues affecting athletes poised to compete in the world’s greatest sporting event. We aim to become the top one-stop conference in Europe for all disciplines relating to sport and exercise medicine and with the support and expertise of these sponsors we are confident we will achieve that target.”
Taking place at ExCel venue from November 23–26, the organisers believe this year’s event will attract 1,200 delegates. Speakers include UK Athletics head coach, Charles van Commenee, author of The Talent Code, Daniel Coyle, and director of football strategy at Liverpool FC, Damien Comolli. Speakers will be presenting over the four days on a wide range of significant issues.
Asics UK marketing manager, Eóin Treacy, said: “All of our product development comes from scientific research as well as a commitment to innovation and quality, so we are delighted to be sponsoring the event, which will showcase some of the best, most current and relevant research in sport and exercise medicine from around the world. In the run-up to London 2012 this is an ideal platform to debate some of the most important issues facing the sports research industry.”
