Flame-resistant fabrics prove popular for Polartec

15/06/2011
Performance fabrics brand Polartec has said that flame-resistant (FR) products it launched in 2009 have made a positive impression on the workwear market.

The company said it made the move two years ago because, for 50 years before that, FR garments had been “bulky and heavy with no breathability and flame protection that could degrade over time”. It launched “a total layering system of FR fabrics designed to work together and keep you safe, warm and comfortable in a wide range of conditions”.

Its FR products (which offer stretch, comfort, weather-protection, anti-odour, moisture management and breathability functionality in addition to their FR qualities) are now used in the collections of major workwear, tactical and safety apparel brands such as Big Bill, True North, Tyndale, Bulwark, Charles Parsons, Flower Gloves, Workrite, 782 Gear, Alpinestars and Gibson & Barnes.
