Fibre manufacturer Hyosung has published its trend predictions for swimwear fabrics for 2013. The company will present a collection of new fibres and fabrics highlighting the 2013 trends at Interfilière in Paris, July 9-11. Featured fabrics and mills include Sofileta, Hyunjin, Pucheon, and Hung Yen. Quick-drying, UV protection and body-shaping functionalities will also be key.

For Pro Shock, compact and lightweight fabrics for the active swimwear sector take on high function to provide enhanced fit, performance, reduced drag and quick dry benefits. Core stability is delivered with high power fabrics and liners and gives the wearer structured support, especially through tummy control during aqua aerobic exercise.

The second trend, Goddess, is inspired by the beauty and vitality of Greek goddesses and the history of female warriors. Strong fashion styling with lightweight knits offer versatility to the garment designer, perfect for pleating and drape, Hyosung has said.

This is followed by Nature’s Cure, in which the inherent vivacity and touch of nature inspires through strong natural bright tones, hand feel, prints and organic structures for swimwear. Lastly, Halcyon Days, offers a feel good factor in swimwear with a retro feel, combined with a comforting milky touch. Print inspiration from nostalgic nuances include 1950s Hawaii to hothouse tropical florals, enabling swimwear manufacturers to use these details with colour-coordinating solids to create reversible swimwear garments to more detailed design applications.
