Pearl Izumi unveils jerseys for US Pro Cycling Challenge
The US branch of Japanese cycling and sports apparel company Pearl Izumi has signed on as the latest sponsor of the inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge, and will produce jerseys to be given to riders for various feats.
The cycling competition will be August 22-28, 2011, in Colorado. The jerseys showcased at the race will be:
• The Quiznos Leader Jersey, a checkered yellow print, which will go to the fastest rider.
• The Smashburger Sprint Jersey, which is green with stripes, will go to the rider with the most bonus points. The bonus points are based on sprint line performances as well as finishing the stage as one of the top 15.
• The Nissan King of the Mountain Jersey, which is red, will go to the rider who proves to the strongest climber through steep grades at designated locations.
• The Sheets Best Young Rider Jersey, which is blue, will go to the rider younger than 23 with the best time for the entire race.
• The Exergy Most Aggressive Rider Jersey, which is orange, will go to the rider who best asserts himself in the field and tackles the day’s challenges.
The USA Pro Cycling Challenge covers a 518-mile course, with 128 riders competing. The race will start in Colorado Springs and go through Salida, Crested Butte, Gunnison, Aspen, Vail, Avon, Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge and Golden before ending in Denver.
