Pakistan: textile exports up 35%
Pakistan’s textile exports increased by 35.1% to $13.8 billion during the recently concluded fiscal year 2010-2011, according to figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
The country exported textile commodities worth $13.8 billion in July-June period of the 2010-11 fiscal year against $10.2 billion in the same period of fiscal year 2009-10.
According to the figures, raw cotton exports went up by 84%, cotton yarn 52.5% and cotton cloth 42.3%.
However, only tents, canvas and tarpaulin in the textile sector showed negative growth of 20.7% in the period under review.
