LaCrosse reports Q2 sales increase

US-based sports and outdoor footwear brand LaCrosse Footwear has said its second-quarter sales grew 2% thanks to rising demand for hiking boots.

Sales to the outdoor market grew 18% to $9.4 million thanks to demand for hunting and hiking products. Gross margins fell to 38.5% of net sales compared to 40.9% a year ago, which the company attributed to an increase in closeout sales of its discontinued work apparel.

“Aside from continuing quarterly fluctuations in US military orders, our business is performing well, with strong growth across our wholesale, direct and international channels,” CEO Joseph P. Schneider said.
