New institute will aim to make better wool for China

The institute, co-founded by Xi'an Polytechnic University and Shandong Nanshan Textitle Apparel Company, has said it will aim to develop higher-quality wool with clothing manufacturers in the Chinese fashion sector the main target customer group.
At present, most of the high-quality in wool China’s fashion apparel manufacturers use has to be imported. Song Riyou, general manager of Shandong Nanshan Textitle Apparel Company, says nearly 80% of the wool produced in China at the moment is of low quality.
