Rogers launches new Poron protection products

Cushioning technology provider Rogers Corporation has developed two customisable protection products using its Poron XRD material in moulded shapes that it says will offer product developers easy-design solutions. Rogers decided to present the new products, the Extreme Impact X-Pad and the B-Guard, for the first time at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market exhibition this August 4-7 in Salt Lake City.

The X-Pad was developed for applications ranging from knee and elbow pads to shin and thigh protection. Its flexible shape allows it to be easily trimmed, formed and stitched to fit specific designs. It is made with a fabric backing and moisture-wicking air channels for added comfort. While extremely versatile, the X-Pad is also durable, abrasion resistant and easy to care for, Rogers said in the build-up to the Salt Lake City event.

The B-Guard is a ready-to-use shape developed for high-impact protection. Having passed the EN 1621-2 impact absorbency test method for motorsports, and the EN 13158 for equestrian, the product is particularly suited for apparel requiring back protection for these activities along with other sports where there is risk of a hard fall such as skiing and snowboarding, the manufacturer said. It is made with flexible, grooved hinges to allow for easy contouring, and for air and moisture to move around freely.

“From fabrics that protect against the elements to materials that protect against impact, product developers are consistently looking for design solutions to help them build innovative gear,” said Dave Sherman, business development manage for Poron cushioning materials. “The X-Pad and B-Guard were developed to give them the design flexibility that they have been asking for.”
