Amy Winehouse’s designs for Fred Perry to go ahead
UK-born singer Amy Winehouse, who passed away on July 23, 2011, had been working with UK-based sportswear label Fred Perry on an eponymous range since 2010.
Following her sudden death aged 27, the release of her future ranges – she had put her name to three forthcoming collections up to and including autumn-winter 2012 – had been thrown into question, but her family have given their blessing for the designs to go on sale.
Ms Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, said in a statement: “When Fred Perry came to us to ask what we would like to do with the new collection it was natural to continue. Amy loved working on both collections and would want them to be made available. All the money we make and the donation that Fred Perry will give will go straight into to the Amy Winehouse Foundation which we are setting up to help children and young people in her name.”
A spokesperson for Fred Perry said that that Amy was “passionate and dedicated” to the collaboration, adding that “her signature style is clearly stamped across each piece.”
