Nordisk goes retro with tents

24/08/2011
Danish outdoor equipment brand Nordisk has introduced a new Retro Line to its range of tents, saying it includes “sizes for every occasion and group”. The claims the secret recipe for slowing down the hectic pace of life today is to go camping..

Amongst the new tents is the 100% cotton-outer Nando 250, which comfortably sleeps three to five people. It has one central pole and a further pole at the entrance area, a waterproof sewn-in PVC floor, four windows fitted with insect-proof mesh can be opened from the inside to provide light and ventilation.

The Sioux 500 and the Sioux 400 are tepee-inspired design, the former sleeping ten to twelve people, while the latter can sleep eight to ten. They have no sewn-in floor, allowing the use of a small stove camp fire in the centre of the tent (the roof cover can be opened to let smoke out). The fabric mix of 35% cotton and 65% polyester is fire-retardant and lighter in weight than a conventional cotton tent (13.2 kilos).

Nordisk’s Retro Line also includes the Kokomo and Arkansas tents. The Kokomo has a door, two windows at each end of the tent, two small windows at ground height on each side and a sewn-in floor; it fits up to eight people. The Arkansas is larger, having the capacity to fit more than 50 sleeping-bags.
