31/08/2011
Five entries from Amollia Matthews, Rebekah Koonce, Jennifer Lamb, Elizabeth Gesek, and Terry Ann Wilson, all design students at Seattle Pacific University, were showcased in the drirelease booth at the show.
Optimer has now announced two winners: Terry Ann Wilson, who won the vote of a panel of judges, and Elizabeth Gesek, who won the people’s choice vote. Both women are graduating seniors interested in entering the world of clothing design.
Ms Wilson’s design featured four separate pieces that included an innovative skirt/pants combo that transformed into a fashionable romper, showing how a single item could travel from an active occasion to a potential nightlife setting. Ms Gesek’s design focused on three pieces including a pair of shorts that converted from hiking shorts to more fashionable Bermuda shorts to give wearers multiple options based on activity.
“The submissions we received for this contest were all very strong,” said Ana Torres, director of marketing for Optimer Brands. “A lot of attendees at the show spent a good amount of time looking through the various design boards prior to casting their votes, and multiple judges mentioned they had a tough time selecting a winner. We are very happy with the level of excitement generated by the contest, and really appreciate the hard work of the contestants as well as the time both the judges’ panel and OR attendees spent voting for their favourite designs.”
The contest winners each received an Apple iPad 2 as a prize.
