Bolzano’s week-long International Mountain Summit will this year include a discussion on climbing and health. The festival will take place in the town of Bressanone in the Italian Alpine province from October 21-30. The discussion will take place on the afternoon of the first day, Friday, October.

“Climbing has evolved in recent years as a competitive and popular sport, which is supported by a wide network of associations and institutions,” the organisers said on announcing the event, which include the health service for the province of Bolzano. “In the cities a growing number of climbing gyms offer training opportunities for performance-oriented and recreational climbers. At the same time a large number of rock climbing parks have been equipped and developed. Climbing is now being successfully used for the prevention and treatment of various health complaints.”

This, along with a look at how climbers should prepare and train for events, will be the main focus of the event.
