Nike goes Back to the Future

09/09/2011

US sportswear brand Nike has created trainers inspired by the 1985 film Back to the Future and main character Marty McFly’s self-lacing sneakers from the world in 2015. The new line of space-age looking athletic shoes is called the Nike MAGs.

The company is auctioning off 150 pairs of character Marty McFly’s Nike Mag trainers a day on eBay for ten days, starting from 9 September. Proceeds will go towards the Michael J. Fox Foundation to benefit Parkinson’s disease, which the former star of the film suffers from.

Nike applied for a patent for the Back to the Future sneakers in August 2010.. Though the self-lacing feature will not actually be featured on the limited edition high-tops, the soles light up for five hours per charge.
