Dow increases acrylic monomer capacity at Böhlen

16/09/2011
Dow Chemical has expanded by 25% crude acrylic acid production at its facility in Böhlen, Germany. It said it had achieved the efficiency increase through “several successful de-bottlenecking initiatives”.

Through its manufacture of additional crude acrylic acid, the company will increase butyl acrylate and glacial acrylic acid at the site.

Dow claims that its portfolio of acrylic monomers is “the most robust” in the industry, serving a wide range of applications, including textiles. Bob Summerhayes, global supply chain director for performance monomers said the Böhlen announcement represented an important milestone for Dow.
