Uniqlo reveals Innovation Project
Japanese apparel brand Uniqlo has unveiled its new clothing line, named the Innovation Project. This latest range – which will start life as a capsule collection of no more than around 15 pieces but is set to expand rapidly – represents a return to the brand’s roots.
From now on, Uniqlo will focus more on experimental technology and fabric innovation than on its fashion pursuits – as it used to a few years ago.
The brand’s designer director Naoki Takizawa was previously creative director at Issey Miyake men and then women for more than a decade.
The Innovation Project is a group effort between creative director Kashiwa Sato, fashion director Nicola Formichetti and Mr Takizawa. It will focus on functional, innovative fabrics with a sports silhouette and a simple colour palette.
