Singapore athletes to wear Asics apparel
The 27 Singaporean athletes competing in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) from November 11 to 22 in Palembang, Indonesia, will be wearing brand new Asics apparel, thanks to a sponsorship from Runner’s World, the brand’s distributor in Southeast Asia.
The sponsorship is worth $20,000 in kind and marks the first time the Japanese brand is sponsoring Singapore’s track and field athletes since 1993.
Runner’s World CEO Andy Zhao said the company is looking into a long-term partnership with the Singapore Athletic Association (SAA).
He said: “Asics will continue to support the development of Singapore’s sport talent as we build on the beginning of a fruitful partnership with the SAA.”
