Lenzing receives Biobased label boost
11/11/2011
President Barack Obama implemented a programme called BioPreferred after the 2008 election, requiring the use of biobased products in 95% of new government contracts and contract modifications. The BioBased label was introduced to extend the benefits of the programme to consumer products and their supply chains.
Lenzing said it felt the right to apply the label to its Tencel and FR fibres would be of most value in the US market, but it said the credibility of the US Department of Agriculture would carry weight in other markets as well.
