Joma to relaunch in Brazil

17/11/2011
Spanish sports footwear brand Joma has announced plans to relaunch its products in the Brazilian market. It has even expressed optimism about making Joma one of the top five sports brands in Brazil.

Concentrating on fore core sports, football, indoor football, athletics and tennis, the Spanish firm will work through a locally based distributor.

Joma had a presence in Brazil between 2002 and 2007, but it was because it insisted on managing the business from Spain that it had to pull out, it now believes. It says issues such as import duties, taxation and logistics mean a locally based partner will be more successful.

With the new arrangement coming into force next year, Joma has already targeted growth of 40% by 2014 when Brazil will hose the FIFA World Cup.
