Designer finds the right cotton at last

Swedish designer Noemi Ivanova has launched a new baselayer collection for men and women for spring-summer 2012. She has admitted to paying much more attention to baselayer garments in her designs for the season, saying she recognises the need to “give priority to what is most important, to what should always come first but rarely does”.

She said on announcing the new baselayer lines: “Over the years, I’ve modified the styles and adjusted the details, but I’ve never really given my full attention to the base collection. There has just never been enough time, so that’s why I’ve decided to specifically devote time to it this season.”

There are eleven styles in the women’s collection, including completely new designs for a strapless bra, garter belt, short-sleeved T-shirt and long-sleeved T-shirt, and improved designs for a cross-back bra, low and rise panties, body, camisole, gown and tank top. For men, there are briefs with legs, a short-sleeved T-shirt and long-sleeved T-shirt, as well as briefs and tank top.

Ms Ivanova continued: “The biggest challenge with the base collection is its plainness. The material is the most important factor, and it can never be compromised. It has to be perfect, so for a long time now I have focused on finding a thin cotton fabric that has the exact composition and weight that I have been looking for, and now I have finally found it.”
