Growth of nearly 5% predicted for Taiwanese textiles
23/11/2011
Taiwan’s textile industry will register growth of 4.9% for 2011, the country’s Institute of Textiles and Industrial Sciences (ITIS) has said.
For the third quarter, the value of Taiwanese textile manufacturers’ output was just over $4 billion, down 1% from the same quarter in 2010, but ITIS said this was not a significant slump and it calculated that the value of the industry’s output for the year will be $16.5 billion.
Apparel manufacturers have benefited from rising labour costs in China, ITIS added, and orders from international brands including Uniqlo.
