Industry veteran calls for jobs to return to the US

25/11/2011
Outdoor apparel industry veteran Doug Hoschek has written a new book detailing his experience of working as part of Malden Mills team that invented fleece fabric and also his observations on the move away from the US by most garment and textile manufacturers.

He has said he believes the countries in Asia that inherited the bulk of textile industry manufacturing jobs have also suffered environmental problems as a result. He argues that the US Environmental Protection Agency is correct to demand high standards of environmental care, but suggests manufacturers should be willing to invest in producing textiles and finished garments in keeping with those standards and in brining jobs back to the US.

Called Polar Pollution: Outdoor Memoirs of Polarfleece, the book was published at the end of October and is available on Amazon.
