Puma pulls UAE shoes from shelves

01/12/2011

Sportstextiles.com previously reported that German sportswear brand Puma had launched a pair of limited edition trainers in the colours of the UAE flag. We can now report that Puma has pulled the shoes from shelves following criticism from Emiratis and Arabs that the sneakers were disrespectful.

Puma confirmed on 30 November that it has ordered the shoes in the national colours of red, white, black and green off store shelves in Dubai and other Emirati cities.

Puma has also said it is sorry for any trouble caused and “never intended to upset or offend” customers in the Middle East.

Puma launched the limited-edition shoes to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the UAE.
