Big City Mountaineers (BCM), a Colorado-based not-for-profit organisation that offers outdoor adventure experiences to under-resourced urban youth, has appointed three people with outdoor and sports industry connections to its board of directors.

Nate Simmons, a partner at Backbone Media and global director of marketing at performance fabric manufacturer Polartec, Michael Leming, chief talent scout at Nike, and Carol Sweasy, chair of the Red Wing Shoe Company Foundation, will join the leadership team as BCM looks to extend the reach and impact of its programmes.

On announcing the appointments, the organisation's executive director, Lisa Mattis, said: "Nate, Michael and Carol bring incredible skills and expertise to the BCM board, and most importantly, they are passionate about our mission. Our vision is to exponentially increase the number of under-resourced youth we work with to instill critical life skills and improve lives. Nate, Carol and Michael will be instrumental in our ability to meet our vision and positively impact communities."
