Custom footbed technology provider Footbalance has been named as a candidate for Red Herring's 2011 Top 100 Global award, honouring technology companies and entrepreneurs from a wide range of sectors. The Red Herring is a global media company that focuses on new technology businesses.

Red Herring will select 100 companies demonstrating what it sees as the most innovative technologies and business models originating from more than 1000 companies from more than 40 nations. Finalists will present their strategies at a forum in Los Angeles, December 5-7, 2011. The Top 100 will be announced at an awards ceremony on December 7.

Alex Vieux, chairman of Red Herring, said before the Los Angeles event: “Footbalance has performed exceptionally in its field and strongly deserves to be singled out as one of the global finalists."

Footbalance was developed by Erkki Hakkala, a Finnish physiotherapist specialising in podiatric medicine. The system enables the production of fully customised footbeds at retail stores in less than ten minutes.
