Chinese textile mills imported 378,200 tonnes of cotton in November, which represents a year-on-year increase of 199.6%.

In total in the first 11 months of 2011, China imported 2.57 million tonnes of cotton, an increase of 8.4% compared to the same months in 2010.

A report from Reuters said importers in China bought more cotton when prices on international markets came down from record high levels in the early part of 2011. More recently, cotton prices have been at their lowest in 16 months.
