Garmont launches lightweight mountaineering boot
Italian outdoor footwear company Garmont has announced the forthcoming launch of a new line of ski mountaineering boots for winter 2012-2013, including what it claims is the lightest four-buckle boot on the market, Cosmos.
The Cosmos is built with Grilamid, and is a mountaineering boot that features reinforcing ribs – the PowerLite Frame - throughout the shell and cuff to give maximum rigidity while maintaining “incredibly light weight”, according to Garmont.
“The easy in, easy out construction includes EZ Open Buckle Straps that hinge out of the way for quick, wide-open entry and exit, and an elegant, low-profile ergonomic tongue attachment,” states Garmont. “The streamlined, patent pending walk mechanism is recessed into the cuff to protect it against damage. Shock damper shell inserts provide comfort, warmth, and ski feel. The innovative EZ Fit liner provides instant comfort out of the box but is 100% thermoformable for those who wish further customisation. A full-length VIBRAM bi-density rubber ski mountaineering sole covers the instep area for maximum grip when scrambling over rocks.”
Paul Parker, Garmont ski boot product manager said: “The Cosmos offers the light weight critical to easy touring on long, go-fast routes, with the skiing performance required to negotiate and enjoy the most difficult descents.”
