Dow says new Thai plant can run at full speed

The Dow Chemical Company has said a new propylene oxide (PO) facility in Thailand is now able to run at full production capacity after successfully completing its full capacity performance test at the end of 2011.
 
Located near Map Ta Phut, the new plant has the capacity to produce 390 kilotonnes of PO per year and uses what Dow has described as "innovative hydrogen peroxide to propylene oxide (HPPO) technology".

Dow said the development would help it expand its polyurethane business, for which athletic equipment is a key application area.
