Nike unveils details of new China HQ

10/01/2012

Nike has released the first details of its plan to build a new 600,000-square-foot regional headquarters in China. The sports brand said the new campus will be built in Shanghai’s Yangpu District as part of a new mixed-use development by New York-based developer Tishman Speyer called “The Springs”.

Nike said it has signed a long-term lease with Tishman Speyer, which will build more than 587,227 square feet encompassing up to three office buildings and a five-story multipurpose conference centre. The campus will also feature a soccer field, a regulation-size indoor basketball court, a state-of-the-art workout facility, a full-service food and beverage operation and the standalone conference centre to host major events and product unveilings.

Nike will move into the space starting in the first quarter of 2014.

“This announcement is very exciting and a strategic investment in our continued growth in China,” said Craig Cheek, Nike’s vice president and general manager for greater China. “This new campus headquarters will allow us to elevate and expand on our facilities and capabilities while bringing all of our Shanghai based employees together from our portfolio of Nike brands into one central campus.”
