US sports apparel manufacturer Under Armour has signed a multi-year endorsement deal with English footballer Michael Dawson.

The Tottenham Hotspur captain will join fellow Premier League stars Bobby Zamora and Paul Robinson as ambassadors for the brand at the start of the 2012/13 season.

It is thought the defender will spearhead Under Armour’s ambassadorial roster following the brand’s multi-million dollar kit sponsorship deal with Tottenham Hotspur that is set to begin in summer 2012.

Commenting on the signing of Mr Dawson, Under Armour’s senior vice president of global sports marketing Matt Mirchin said: “We’re committed to empowering athletes worldwide and Michael’s leadership, team first attitude and dedication to hard work makes him the ideal partner for the brand. We look forward to seeing Michael on the pitch in our innovative football boots.”

Mr Dawson said: “I am extremely excited to join the Under Armour family – they are an ambitious brand who are committed to helping athletes constantly improve. Under Armour apparel and footwear is developed with the athlete’s needs in mind and I am looking forward to being part of building that sporting legacy.”

Mr Dawson, who has played for the north London club since 2005, will wear Under Armour’s UA Hydrastrike II FG boots.
