Bergans of Norway officially lands in the US

13/01/2012
Outdoor brand Bergans of Norway has established a wholly owned subsidiary to serve the North American market. For the past ten years, an independent partner has had responsibility for distributing Bergans products in that part of the world.

Pat Loomis is chief executive of the new subsidiary, with Keith Patterson taking the role of vice-president of sales and marketing. They will launch the Bergans 2012-1013 backcountry clothing line at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market exhibition in Salt Lake City (January 19-22).

Bergans says its products are inspired by the "rugged individualism of the Norwegian people" and tested in a landscape that extends into the Arctic Circle and is 90% mountains. "In Norway, skiing represents much more than recreation. It's a mode of transportation as natural to the Norwegian culture as riding a bike is in the US," the company insists. "Norwegians have trusted Bergans to outfit them for epic conditions since 1908."
