26/01/2012
Textile industry technology provider Lectra has announced the appointment of Jean-Patrice Gros as its new director for the Middle East and North Africa. In making the announcement, the company described this region of the world as having “high potential”.

It said immediately that Turkey would be at the forefront of Mr Gros’s new responsibilities and that he would have his base in Istanbul.

At the time of the announcement, Lectra chief executive, Daniel Harari, commented: “Turkey has been a major partner of many European fashion brands for several decades; it is a flagship country for Lectra. Renowned for the quality of its production, Turkey is the European Union’s second supplier of textile-clothing, behind China.”

Mr Harari went on to note that Turkey also has a dynamic internal market and is developing its own international fashion brands. Lectra intends to introduce soon its product lifecycle management software offerings for fashion industry customers in Turkey, which the chief executive said would help companies in the sector there to add value and grow.

For his part, Jean-Patrice Gros, who has worked at Lectra for 30 years, said he felt sure the company could help manufacturers in Turkey “respond more easily to the rhythm of fast fashion”.
