Australia set for cotton record despite rain

The chief executive of Cotton Australia, Adam Kay, has said summer rains in New South Wales and Queensland will affect the country’s cotton crop this year, but that the country is still on course for its larges ever harvest of the fibre.

He said he no longer thought it would be possible to reach a harvest of five million bales, but that beating last year’s recover of just over four million bales would be possible.
