Speakers announced for innov-ex conference

15/02/2012
The organisers of the Innovation for Extremes (innov-ex) conference have announced the speakers for this year’s event. Sponsored by Pertex, the conference is taking place this year for the tenth time, on April 18 and 19 at the University of Lancaster in the north of England.

Secretary general of the European Outdoor Group, Mark Held, will pose a challenge to the
outdoor industry to look at how it manages its own marketplace, including managing Asian supply chains in the context of the rapidly changing economic-political climate, sustainability and the impact of high-leverage campaign organisations; and the potential impact facing the outdoor and sports industries of the 2011 banking shift on funding and working capital for sector businesses.

Martin Charter, from the Centre for Sustainable Design, will highlight the global trends, development models and future trends in sustainable innovation. Adrian Wilson, author of Intertech Pira’s Smart Fabrics to 2020 report, will talk about the latest commercial launches in e-textiles, and near-future developments to show what can the outdoor industry learn from what is already out there in the marketplace.

Other presentations will address issues surrounding waste and the UK government’s Sustainable Clothing Action Plan.
