Wool blends excite Concept III

23/02/2012
Textile resource and garment production service Concept III has announced that it now has an extensive range of wool-blend fabrics made in partnership with Australian partner Merino State. "We all know the superior attributes and natural benefits of merino wool," Concept III said in a statement. "Merino State makes the best fine-micron merino available anywhere. For 2013 they now present an incredible line up of technical performance blends, eco blends and luxury

An overview of the range highlights seven blends. Soft Shell Merino combines "nature's best insulator" on the inside with leading-edge membranes and technical outer fabrics on the outside. Concept III calls it "a truly innovative solution" and says Merino State soft shells offer everything from flexible comfort for casual outerwear to ultimate extreme weather protection.

Another blend with synthetic insulation brand PrimaLoft has created what Concept III refers to as "the ultimate, lightweight thermal fabrics".

A blend combining wool with Advansa's thermo-regulating fibre mix ThermoCool enhances merino's natural ability to adapt to the body's warming and cooling needs, Concept III says, providing evaporative cooling or thermo-buffering functions as needed by the body. Similarly, it says a blend with Lenzing's Tencel fibre enhances the properties and aesthetics of fine wool to produce fabrics that are "highly supple with excellent drape and lustre, a plus for the women's fashion athletic market".

Finally, made from corn sucrose Bio-PDO, Biophyl is a renewable resource just as merino is. Beyond its environmental appeal, the blend adds softness, fluid drape, elasticity and easy care attributes, according to Concept III.
