Puma aims to rival adidas in football
27/02/2012
“We are the number three in soccer and we want to pick away at the gap with adidas and Nike,” Franz Koch told Reuters. He said Puma was looking at players, clubs and federations for new opportunities.
Puma is aiming for total sales of EUR4 billion in 2015, while adidas is aiming for sales of EUR17 billion by then.
Mr Koch declined to give a precise forecast for Puma’s football sales in 2012, or say whether he was expecting record sales like adidas, which achieved soccer sales of EUR1.5 billion in the World Cup year of 2010.
Mr Koch said he was expecting double-digit growth in percentage terms, with the Italian shirt and the Power soccer boots worn by Fabregas set to be its top sellers.
