Haglöfs appoints new board chairman

28/02/2012

Swedish outdoor brand Haglöfs appointed Alistair Cameron chairman of the board of directors at the company’s latest board meeting. Alistair Cameron will succeed Lars Göthlin, who is leaving Haglöfs’ after 19 years.

Haglöfs was acquired by ASICS in 2010, and the board of the Swedish company focused over a period of 18 months on developing its business plan and strategies together with the new owner. During this time, Mr Göthlin played a significant role in ensuring continuity in Haglöfs’ operations.

“After 19 years on the board, it is evidently difficult to briefly summarise Lars Göthlin’s considerable contribution to Haglöfs’ operations and development. Over the years, he has combined experience, wisdom and thoughtfulness with a large dose of humour,” said Nicolas Warchalowski, CEO of Haglöfs.

“In 1993, Haglöfs was still a small backpack company that had just launched the future sales success called TIGHT. I have experienced a fantastic journey, but all journeys finally reach their destination. I leave Haglöfs with mixed feelings, but at the same time feel confident in leaving the chairmanship to Alistair Cameron,” said Mr Göthlin.

Mr Cameron has been a member of the board of Haglöfs since 2010 and has experience of various leading positions within the international sportswear sector. He is also CEO of ASICS in Europe.

“Lars has been an important asset during our first period as owner. Not least, we have had tremendous use of his legal expertise. Lars has played a significant role in smoothly integrating Haglöfs into the ASICS family,” said Cameron.

“I have worked closely with Alistair since ASICS took over Haglöfs, and it is very evident that he is filled with enthusiasm for Haglöfs, our core values and people. Haglöfs will now be launched globally, and I have full confidence in Alistair as chairman with his considerable international experience,” said Mr Warchalowski.
