08/03/2012

The 25th Taipei Cycle Show (7-10 March, 2012) reported an 11% increase in international visitors on its first day and has drawn more attention from sportswear and sports fashion companies, according to Dr Wang Chih-kang, chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), which organised the show.

Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the event’s opening ceremony, which took place in the Taiwan World Trade Center (TWTC) on March 7, 2012. President Ma said: “More and more people in Taiwan start to ride bicycles. While the government is completing a 2,000 kilometre bike path around the whole island, it not only makes Taiwan a spotlight among cyclists, but also shows the government’s determination to promote the industry.”

President Ma also said he expects that the Taipei Cycle Show will one day become the largest bicycle show in the world.

In terms of the number of foreign buyers, Jeremy Horng, the director of TAITRA Exhibition Department said that 4,247 international visitors visited the show on the first day, an 11% increase in comparison to last year, and 94 overseas journalists visited.
