EOCA names acting president

The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) has announced that John Jansen, European managing director for outdoor footwear brand Keen, will take up the role of acting president. The association is an initiative from the European outdoor industry with the objective of protecting wild areas in all parts of the world.

EOCA said on making the announcement that the need to appoint an acting president came about because of the death of Holger Bismann towards the end of last year. Mr Bismann, managing director of Patagonia Europe, had been battling against illness for the whole of 2011.

Nick Brown, owner and manager of
waterproofing treatments technology provider Nikwax, will continue in his role as vice-president of EOCA. Other board members of EOCA are Jan Lorch, sales and marketing director of German outdoor brand Vaude, Peter Waeber, chief executive of standards organisation bluesign, Mark Held, general secretary of the European Outdoor Group, and Andrea Tomasini, interim general manager of Patagonia Europe.
