19/03/2012
Singapore-based textile chemical manufacturer DyStar has said it is working with a partner, specialist Swiss electrochemical technologies provider RedElec Technologie, to develop sustainable indigo dyeing for the denim industry.

A dedicated DyStar Denim team and RedElec Technologie have joined forces to develop electrochemical dyeing of indigo, to make a sustainable solution that the companies say will eliminate harmful substances from dyeing and waste water.

DyStar’s technology manager for denim,
Günther Widler, said the co-operation with RedElec represents “a big step forward to help improve the environmental profile of indigo dyeing”.

For its part, RedElec said it was sure electrochemical technology will bring about cleaner processes and “limit the negative impacts of industrial activities”.
