Jochen Zeitz heads PPR sustainability committee

French luxury goods group PPR has set up a new sustainability committee that will be chaired by Jochen Zeitz, in a change that will see him stepping down as CEO of the company’s sport and lifestyle division in October 2012.

The appointment is due to be approved at a shareholders’ meeting in April, and would also see Mr Zeitz nominated as a director. His role as chairman of Puma’s administrative board remains unchanged, the company said.

Mr Zeitz will continue to guide PPR’s sustainability agenda and provide strategic leadership to the group’s Home programme.

The decision to set up a sustainability committee is intended to establish sustainability as a key driver across the PPR business. “In deciding to dedicate more of my time towards my initiatives around conservation and sustainability, I am also looking forward to providing continued support for PPR’s strategy in the ‘Sport & Lifestyle’ division, and help guide the group’s sustainable development as a member of the board,” Mr Zeitz said.

The PPR Sport & Lifestyle division will report to group managing director Jean-François Palus.
