Swiss group reported to be interested in acquiring Meryl Fiber

French fibre manufacturer Meryl Fiber could be acquired by Swiss group Nexis, French broadcaster France 3 has said in a report.

Based near Arras in northern France, Meryl, went into administration in September 2011, protecting it against claims from its creditors while seeking a buyer to take the business over. The France 3 report said that Nexis Fibers had delivered a proposal to acquire the company, committing itself to keeping 210 of the current 450 employees. A court in Arras granted a period of three months for all parties to reach agreement on a deal.
