OIA appoints new communications manager

The Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) in the UK has announced the appointment of a new marketing and communications manager.

Terry Stephenson joins the not-for-profit organisation, which represents manufacturers, retailers and other organisations that provide products and services for the outdoor leisure pursuits market in the United Kingdom, from destination marketing company Visit County Durham, but previously helpd marketing positions at Berghaus and at adidas.

On announcing the appointment, OIA chief executive, Andrew Denton, said: “T
erry offers exactly the dynamism that the association needs and I am looking forward to his contributions to our growing and varied programme.

The first part of 2012 has seen the OIA launch a new membership category for independent outdoor professionals, lobbying activity has increased and there has been a focus on providing enhanced membership services and benefits. It held a successful annual general meeting and conference in March and earlier this month opened a new office in Windermere in the Lake District in north-west England.
