It launched the GERBERcutter system in the 1970s and recently installed the 10,000th system, the GTxL version of the technology, at Theory, a New York-based fashion company.
Theory will add the new cutting system to the technology it already has in place at its design centre in New York City and use it to produce precisely cut parts for its clothes, saving large amounts of material.
Sam Simpson, vice president of global sales for Gerber Technology, said on announcing the milestone: “Our automation solutions enable growth, which then drives profitability. Gerber has always approached prospective customers with the objective of establishing long-term partnerships by providing industry expertise to help them improve their business processes. Through the sale of 10,000 cutting systems and thousands more CAD systems and peripherals, we have helped companies of all sizes realise their growth and profitability goals.”
