Amer Sports reports 29% rise in Q1 apparel sales
Finnish sporting goods group Amer Sports has reported higher-than-expected quarterly profit, boosted by a sharp rise in apparel sales. The company, which owns the Wilson and Atomic brands, posted a 9% rise in first-quarter operating profit to EUR29 million, beating an average forecast of EUR23.4 million in a Reuters poll.
Winter sports sales fell 9%, but a 29% rise in apparel sales helped boost its overall result. Amer also reiterated its forecast for full-year sales to improve from a year earlier.
