Performance award for cycle shorts padding

La Fonte’s winning product is a new padding material for cycling shorts that the company believes will help sports brands offer a series of functional advantages in that product category.
Called Shock Absorbing Technology (SAT), the padding offers an anatomically adaptable cushioning form and performs at a high level in absorbing bumps and vibrations. But also improves climate comfort and odour protection through antibacterial Polygiene treatments.
The secret, according to the Treviso-based company, is in the open-cell, visco-elastic polyethylene foam that La Fonte has developed in collaboration with the Polytechnikums Bioengineering Centre in Milan. It remains soft and supple as long as there is no shock from the saddle. If there is a rough, uneven surface and bumps, it changes its molecular structure and absorbs the applied force.
