CCI hosts Marrakech event

Export promotion arm of the US cotton industry, Cotton Council International (CCI), hosted a Mediterranean supply chain forum in Marrakech last month, attracting buyers from major retailers and brands, including Intersport, Escada, MaxMara, REPLAY, French Connection and El Corte Inglés, and garment manufacturers from Egypt and Tunisia as well as host country Morocco.

A range of quality yarns and fabrics from leading Turkish licensees of the US cotton industry
was on display.

The forum began with a presentation on the world cotton market and a report from CCI on the impact of recent price movements on consumer demand and purchasing patterns in key European markets. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring top executives from Escada, French Connection and Intersport. Forum attendees were given insight into the garment company of the future and how new technologies may change the way companies operate and do business. There was then a panel discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of sourcing garments from North Africa.
