17/05/2012
EXT2 and EXT4 are two new product groups that come under the banner Energy Fabrics, offering either two-way or four-way elasticity. A wide variety of weave textures and blends is available, including polyamide-Lycra, polyester-Lycra and cotton-polyamide-Lycra blends. These fabrics are ideal for ski and snowboard pants, the company said at the time of the launch, as well as for golfwear and riding apparel.
A new multilayer product group, comprising ML2 and ML3, is also available.Fabrics here come in two- or three-layer bonded versions, made with or without a membrane and on stretch or non-stretch grounds. These soft shell products are designed for performance sports apparel and combine varied fabrics depending on need: abrasion-resistant face fabrics, thermal backs, and membranes available in different performance levels.
FXI and FXR are a further two families of fabrics, this time based on non-stretch woven fabrics, in 100% polyamide, 100% polyester and in blends with cotton. The FXI group is made up of single fabrics enhanced with performance finishes, including down-proofing, windproofing, water resistance, and so on. The FXR family combines rigid fabrics with functional laminates or coatings. Waterproof and breathable membranes are available in several levels of performance (from 10,000 to 20,000 g/m2/24 h for breathability and 10,000 to 20,000 mm water column for waterproofness). A special aluminium-coated membrane offers thermal insulation as well. Other functional finishes available include UV protection and quick drying.
The new collection also includes special coatings, resins and laminates that make up a range called SCT and provide added performance to face fabrics and linings. Finally, fabrics made with high-tenacity fibres form the HITY product group, which addresses the needs of outerwear, from mountaineering to free climbing and covering outdoor activities in general, as well as workwear. Fabrics are available in several types of fibres, including Cordura, Kevlar and Vectran.
The company is currently working on fabrics designed for competition swimwear, which will be launched before the end of the year.
