Energy-saving scheme for NZ textile sector
Industry body Textiles New Zealand has joined forces with the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
According to Radio New Zealand, the two agencies will work together to fund at least ten energy-saving projects for textiles firms including apparel, footwear and carpet.
The EECA funded a pilot programme in 2010 involving five textile firms. These companies achieved energy savings of 14%, on average.
The aim of the new programme is to make textile producers more efficient, reduce energy wastage and to help make companies more competitive.
The ECCA is to contribute up to $128,000 in support of the
initiative.
