Higher H1 textile exports for Vietnam
Vietnam has exceeded its fibre, textile and garment export target for the first half of the year.
Exports for the sector were expected to rise 6% year-on-year to $7.5 billion, but actually grew 12% to $7.9 billion.
"This reflected great efforts by the textile and apparel sector in the face of the global economic crisis," said Le Tien Truong, deputy director-general of the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex).
Exports to the US grew 15% during the six-month period, while
exports to Japan and South Korea rose 23% and 26%, respectively.
