Sport brands to protect youth online
Spyder Surf and Tahoe Mountain Sports are to use Virtual Piggy, a system that provides retailers with a secure mechanism for children to shop online.
The technology enables online businesses to comply with the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and corresponding international children’s privacy laws.
"As an outdoor retailer with a strong ecommerce presence, one of our key consumer demographics is teens, particularly for action sports such as skiing, snowboarding and disc golf," said Tahoe Mountain Sports owner David Polivy.
"Since many teens don’t have credit cards to make online
purchases, partnering with Virtual Piggy allows us to monetise these passionate
brand enthusiasts through its innovative online payment system."
